Feeling Deprived???

Well don't do it to yourself!!!

I am serious....

I got fat because I ate a lot of crap! Then I woul go on some crazy diet and after 2 weeks I couldnt handle the deprivation anymore. Yes, maybe I was weak but I think it is more because I wasnt living! I would then binge on the crap that I desired and then put on more weight. Was not a good pattern....

Deprivation is the downfall of all diets.

You can have a small portion of dessert to satisfy your sweet tooth and still stick to your diet. You just don’t want to eat a large portion, or more!

Many people find foo pleasurable and unavoidable. I don't know anyone in my family who doesn't like food but Weight Watchers was one of the places that helped me to understand that I could treat myself but not to overindulge.

After all you can't stay on a deprivation diet forever. Life changes, sometimes you cant be in control of what is served up or on offer but you can control how much you put in your mouth and how often.

You can create a diet that lets you eat a lolly once a day or once a week. Maybe you can have a small dessert after dinner or lunch. For me I love jelly (low cal variety) but occasionally I will make myself an icecream in a cone for dessert.

This will help reduce your cravings for it and therefore reduce the risk of a binge.
I have managed to reduce my weight by not cutting a single food out. I have been able to stick with this lifestyle change for over 12months and am still continuing to lose weight. You can do this. You just have to be sensible and stay in control.

So make a good choice of what you include in your diet because if you want it to be a lifestyle change that you can stick to, then you should not cut anything out.

  3. So true! Jon Gabriel in the Gabriel method says the same thing, but besides only in moderation, he says to make sure that you add the good nutrition to what you eat. Me, I'm still coping with stress and comfort eating!

    Hope you're going well chookie!

  4. You are so right Deprivation dieting just makes it all worse! Eventually you crack and MUST HAVE that donut! (or whatever it is) And if it has come that far then at that point, stopping at one isn't likely.

I've adopted the no deprivation idea. I love what you said in that you haven't cut any of the foods you love our of your diet. That inspires me. Losing weight is possible without giving up what you love.
